THE BLADDER WRACK, Fucus vesiculosus.

This species occurs in the mid shore region and is more commonly found on more

exposed shores. In more sheltered regions it is replaced by egg wrack wrack,

Ascophyllum nodosum. In both species the air filled bladders help a species which

experiences daily tidal movement in and out.

The fronds float on the surface of the water due to these bladders.
