THE EGG WRACK, Ascophyllum nodosum.

This species occurs in the mid shore region and is more commonly

found on sheltered shores. In more exposed regions it is replaced

by bladder wrack, Fucus vesiculosus. In both species the air filled bladders

help a species which experiences daily tidal movement in and out.

The fronds float on the surface of the water due to these bladders.
